Hello, we are Emily and Jeremy Kirk, the proud owners of Lavender Mills Farm, formally “The Kirk Farm.”

We get asked a lot about our story and why we decided to grow lavender. I was sent a picture on Pinterest of a beautiful lavender farm during covid, so I decided to see if I could grow lavender here in the Ottawa area. I initially planted 30 lavender plants (and I thought this was a lot). It was thriving and I really enjoyed selling bouquets to friends. I initially asked Jeremy to do the math for the space we had (his mistake for telling me how many plants I could buy!) That same winter, on a whim, I ordered 600 lavender plugs from Southern Ontario. This was our Hidcote field.

Once the Hidcote field took off, I saw a picture of a beautiful picnic in a lavender field. I messaged my friend, Leah, who was starting her charcuterie board business. Conveniently, Leah, and her cousin, Leigha, wanted to offer luxury picnics as new business venture and we thought this would be a great collaboration. We met up at Starbucks for a coffee and a new idea was born- Soiree in the Field! Soiree in the Field would be an event where female-business owners could showcase their products in a luxury setting and build partnerships through community and charity.
